How TrustBearer Live Works

TrustBearer Live is an application delivery platform for applications using trusted devices.

TrustBearer Live integrates with existing and new web applications and simplifies the deployment, usage, and management of trusted devices with applications and features, such as strong authentication, secure payment, customer loyalty, post-issuance management, and many others.

This is accomplished by using a cross-platform, web browser add-on that is delivered and managed centrally by the TrustBearer Live server. The client simply needs a web browser and a trusted device.

TrustBearer Live uses a browser add-on that is dynamically updated to support new trusted devices. This provides a way to rapidly deliver new applications that can be written once, independent of operating systems and web browsers.

The following example is an application for TrustBearer Live called TrustBearer Access. The financial website used in the example demonstrates how this application allows users to replace their username and passwords with device-based, strong authentication.

The browser indicates that an add-on is available. And with few clicks the add-on is installed, (which the user performs only once). Now the user is ready to use TrustBearer Live for multi-factor authentication and digital signing with trusted devices.

The user inserts a trusted device. (This may be a smart card in a smart card reader.) TrustBearer Live detects the device and builds the appropriate support stack. Now the user is able to sign in to their account and other services with a single click.

The user may be prompted to enter a PIN or biometric, as a second layer of security. The PIN or biometric is entered and access is granted.
