In the past, this required software to be managed on each user's desktop computer, and this software was tied to a particular trusted device.
Most trusted devices require device-specific software or middleware (A communications layer that allows applications to interact across hardware and network environments.) to be installed before the trusted device can be used; this places an undue burden on users and administrators to keep systems up-to-date.

Middleware can also be bulky. As a small browser add-on (A small software application that is joined with browser software to enable additional capabilities), our software is installed and updated in seconds. Each time a device is connected to a system using TrustBearer Live, the browser add-on detects the device and loads support. Adding support for new devices only requires a small server update. The next time users access the website, the new device is automatically enabled.
